WEST CARTHAGE, New York (WWNY) - The North Country has gotten its fair share of snow so far this year, and with that, snowmobilers are ready to hit the trails. However, officials are asking riders to hold off just a bit longer.
“At the end of the day, we can only do so much. It’s on the sledders to do their part,” said Sarah Johnson, president of the Missing Link Snow Mobile Club.
Doing their part, as Johnson puts it, means staying off the trails in the Carthage area for a little while longer.
“It only takes one land owner in the middle of a trail to shut that land down. Some of the trails are on their last, their last land owner. You know, one more screw up and we’re scrambling, hoping not to get the trail shut down,” she said.
