WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Snowfall in Watertown has stopped, for now. In its wake is the kind of snowy environment city leaders believe is good for grabbing snow gear and taking to the trails, like cross-country skis and snowshoes in Thompson Park, where the trails are officially open.

“This is the second year, I believe, that we’ve done it,” said Jim Scordo, program manager, Watertown Parks and Recreation. “It’s definitely great to have more activities, especially like you said, during the winter where it’s a little colder.”

Changes this year: you won’t get your rentals at the park like last year. You’ll pick them up at the Municipal Arena. Also, you can rent gear for more than one day, but you need to pick it up weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm.
