PENINSULA TOWNSHIP — Peninsula Township officials say they remain willing to engage in settlement discussions with local wineries despite receiving a demand for payment of more than $51 million this week.
According to a Thursday, Dec. 11 news release from Supervisor Peninsula Township Maura Sanders, township counsel contacted Miller Canfield on Nov. 14 to express the township’s desire to continue settlement discussions. Township officials said the wineries have not responded.
On Dec. 9, the township appointed a subcommittee to pursue settlement talks. Miller Canfield was aware of the subcommittee, the township said, referencing a Dec. 10 news article.
