Police in Virginia are searching for a man accused of raping a child eight years ago — a case detectives say they were able to corroborate after a woman came forward last week.
On Thursday, Dec. 4, a woman reported an alleged sexual assault to the Fredericksburg Police Department that happened when she was 12 years old.
The case was assigned to a detective, who was able to confirm evidence provided by the victim, which identified Fredericksburg resident David Jackson as the likely sexual assault suspect.
According to police, Jackson is now wanted on a felony warrant charging him with rape of a child less than 13 years of age.
Police say that Jackson is known to frequent the FXBGO bus line, downtown Fredericksburg, and the Spotsylvania Town Centre.
Jackson was described as being 5-foot-7, weighing 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket and a red beanie.
As of Thursday, Dec. 11, his whereabouts remain unknown.
Anyone with information regarding Jackson or his whereabouts has been advised not to have contact with him and to contact the department immediately.
"The Fredericksburg Police Department takes these incidents very seriously and is committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens," the agency said, reminding community members to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity.
