Orchard Park, N.Y. — Buffalo Bills cornerback Christian Benford injured his toe during practice on Thursday as the team ramped up preparations for Sunday’s AFC East showdown against the New England Patriots.

Benford was wearing a small walking boot/shoe on his left foot in the locker room after practice. He took part in individual drills during the early portion of practice open to the media.

The injury comes at a bad time with the high-powered New England offense on deck. Second-year quarterback Drake Maye is among the MVP favorites entering this week’s game after leading the Patriots to an 11-2 record.
