Syracuse, N.Y. ― A Syracuse man was sentenced Thursday to 20 years in prison for trafficking guns from Georgia to Syracuse.
Julius Anderson, 35, previously pleaded guilty to conspiring with two women to traffic and sell dozens of guns from Georgia in Syracuse.
He was originally promised a shorter sentence after agreeing to cooperate with prosecutors: 11 to 16 years in prison.
When the time came for him to testify against a codefendant, Veronica Williams , he refused, prosecutor Cindi Newtown said in court Thursday.
The plea agreement specifically stated Anderson would be sentenced to 20 years if he failed to meet the terms, including testifying.
Anderson and his attorney, Don Kelly, pushed back Thursday, arguing he was facing intimidation from Williams ahead of the trial.
