Even professional athletes aren’t immune to traffic jams.
The Penguins’ game Thursday against the Canadiens at PPG Paints Arena was delayed 30 minutes to 7:30 p.m. due to a crash on I-279 southbound, the team announced.
Players traveling from north of the city were presumably impacted by the crash. Penguins forward Bryan Rust was seen running to the locker room in a suit at about 5:40 p.m.
The team encouraged fans who typically travel to the arena on Parkway North to find alternate routes.
Post-Gazette news partner KDKA-TV reported that an overturned tractor-trailer just north of the city is the source of the delay.
