Several spectators braved biting cold winds Thursday to wave American flags, salute and cheer from the sidewalks of Philadelphia Pike in Claymont as the Wreaths Across America convoy of trucks and local escorts made its way into Delaware.
The annual caravan began in Maine last weekend, and previously stopped in Philadelphia Thursday for a send-off. Many of the wreaths will be placed at Arlington National Ceremony, but the final resting places for veterans at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Chesapeake City Road will also get wreaths.
Mike Ashby said he came out to show his "dedication to representing and recognizing the people that actually gave their lives during the wars."
