Man slams town's 'speculative' social media posts upsetting his wife

A man has hit out at what he said was “a string of speculative social media posts” over the future of his Merseyside home. John Bretherton said: “I have learned over the years this is to be expected, but it certainly upset my wife.”

Mr Bretherton was granted planning permission from Wirral Council on December 11 to demolish part of an extension on his Gayton property. He will raise the roof height to feature a new gable roof with Juliet balconies to accommodate a new first floor as well as works to build a porch and side garage.

A report published before the planning committee meeting said the property is a detached bungalow set back from Telegraph Road with a footpath through the middle dividing the site in two.
