BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. — Authorities are working to learn more about a shooting involving a Batesburg-Leesville police officer.

Officials said an officer shot two suspects after one of them tried to run over officers. Investigators reported that the suspects were believed to be involved in criminal activity at several Lexington County businesses.

Batesburg-Leesville Police are waiting to release the suspects' names and their charges. Police Chief Darren Amick said the officer involved is “doing fine considering the circumstances.” The suspects' conditions were not available, but both were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said it could not provide information about any related criminal activity until the suspects’ names are released.
