SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — Officials in Sumter County are responding to a crash involving a school bus that happened on Thursday afternoon.
A spokesperson for Sumter Fire said the crash happened around 3:20 p.m. Sumter School District Officials said the crash happened on St. Paul Church Road and Patriot Parkway and that several students sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
A spokesperson for the South Carolina Highway Patrol said a school bus was heading south on St. Pauls Church Road when it was struck by a GMC Yukon SUV that was driving on Patriot Parkway.
Fire officials said about 20 children and five adults were on the bus, and three adults were in the other vehicle. The Highway Patrol later said 12 children and the driver of the SUV were taken to the
