COLUMBIA, S.C. — For more than two decades, one Midlands woman has been at the heart of Wreaths Across America at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.

Mrs. Carol Davis continues to help families honor the veterans laid to rest.

Happening Saturday, December 13 Davis will mark her last year leading the effort.

Davis enjoys walking the grounds of the cemetery. She says it brings her peace. But the peace is not just for her, but for veterans and their families.

“Everything is taken care of so their veteran can serve. And they need as much respect as that veteran,” says Davis.

For the past 22 years, Davis teaches volunteers the meaning behind placing a wreath. First at the South Carolina State House, and now at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
