It’s not easy to celebrate during times of uncertainty, loss and conflict. But it is in these times, when it seems that there is nothing to celebrate, that we need to celebrate more than ever. And that is especially true now.
Our country’s 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence approaches next year. This has felt like such a devastating year for freedom, equality and justice in our country.
And yet I wonder what there is to celebrate about it all. I think about what this painful, chaotic year has made possible that may not have been so possible before in the way of significant, transformative change:
– A stronger, healthier, more functional democracy. One that is led by the people and responsive to our greatest needs. This crisis holds an opportunity to make our government
