A person was shot during a road rage incident in the Town of Wawayanda on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 11, Daily Voice has learned.
The shooting happened at approximately 3:45 p.m. at Dolsontown Road and McVeigh Road in Wawayanda, just outside the City of Middletown, NYSP confirmed.
NYSP Troop F troopers on scene tell incident reporter Mark Lieb of Rockland Video Productions that one person had been shot following what they described as a road rage-type encounter.
The victim was conscious and alert and was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center after being found by police shortly after the incident, Lieb said.
In a statement to Daily Voice, a spokeswoman for New York State Police said only that Troop F BCI is investigating the incident and that there was no danger to the community.
NYSP was assisted by the City of Middletown Police and the Town of Wallkill Police Department. Roads in the area were shut down for the investigation.
