GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Changes to Greenville’s bars and breweries are on the way after the newly sworn-in council decided to approve recommended changes to the city’s bar 2022 ordinance.
The new ordinance would change the total size limit for Bar 2022 to increase from 2,000 square feet to 3,500, while also expanding bars to include commercial zoning districts, and ensuring that future bars and microbreweries remain 500 feet from single family homes.
For microbreweries, the new ordinance will also let establishments apply for a mixed-beverage permit and increase their size limit to 8,000 square feet.
The ordinance will also ensure a security plan approved by the Greenville police department to provide for necessary security personnel, and add compliance standards for violations.
