PENCER, Iowa (KTIV)— Temporary trailers that housed dozens of families displaced by historic flooding in 2024 are set to be removed by the end of the month.
The trailers were moved to Spencer in September 2024. At peak, 44 households occupied the temporary housing units.
Permanent housing solutions have now been found for all temporary housing residents through coordination between Homeland Security and the City of Spencer. Two units remain occupied, but those residents will move to their new homes by the end of the month.
Once vacant, the trailers will be put up for auction by the General Service Administration.
