RUSK, Texas — A canceled community celebration is getting an unexpected second chance this weekend thanks to a local father-and-son team determined to keep the holiday spirit alive.

After the annual Rusk Hometown Christmas event was called off earlier this month, Todd and Michael Daniels stepped forward to ensure families would not go without a seasonal celebration. The two are hosting “Grinchmas 2025” on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Old Foundry Wedding and Event Venue, offering a full day of free holiday activities.

The event will feature a large Christmas maze, hands-on ornament crafting, reindeer food making, a letter-writing station for Santa, and a holiday bounce house.
