BEREA, Ohio -- New Story School, a school for children on the autism spectrum, will open in January in the former St. Adalbert Academy location.
The school will lease the building from the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland.
The Berea Planning Commission approved a conditional use for the building for community education on Nov. 6.
The area is zoned RSF-B for single-family homes. The board stipulated that the student enrollment be capped at 100 and that vans and buses enter the property at 66 Adalbert St. by using Front Street to Adalbert Street, then exit by the same route.
New Story Schools has 12 locations in Ohio -- the nearest one is in Independence -- and several in Pennsylvania.
