Jamie West calls it the “cruellest April Fool’s joke ever.”

Back in January, the province announced Sudbury would be among 27 communities to get a Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) Hub. The plan, it said at the time, was to have all the new centres operational by April 1.

“Nine months later, there’s nothing,” said the Sudbury MPP.

West conceded the snap election in February may have protracted the process a bit, but some communities have seen HART Hubs open in the interim, most recently in Windsor and Smiths Falls and in Sault Ste. Marie on Thursday . Sudbury is still waiting.

“It’s the same cheque-is-in-the-mail approach the Conservative government has had for two years,” said West. “They gave a lot of families false hope, and it’s insulting.”
