HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A West Oahu community is getting into the holiday spirit.

This weekend, Nanakuli residents will gather for the fourth-annual “Christmas on the Avenue” to come together and celebrate the holiday season and emphasize the importance of unity.

“It’s an event by the community for the community,” said Shanztyn Nihipali, vendor and promotions chair for Christmas on the Avenue. “Seeing all of the helping hands, and all of the residents of the homestead that put their time, energy, and efforts, and resources into making this happen every year, it’s such an amazing thing to witness.”

It’s organized by the Ahupuaa O Nanakuli Homestead and the Waianae Economic Development Council, with support from the community, first held in December 2022.
