HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - For a few years, a group of volunteers has been maintaining an area known as Kuilei Cliffs on the makai side of Diamond Head Road.
Keeping the lawn green requires a lot of water. And lately, there hasn’t been enough of it to go around.
“Every Saturday, volunteers come to plant the grass, and then the new grass needs a little bit more water,” said Ryo Kubota, who has been leading the charge, recruiting those volunteers, planting vegetation, installing sprinklers, and giving their own time, money and sweat to turn the dry, thorny and rocky hillside into grassy areas for the public.
