Imphal: President Droupadi Murmu met internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Manipur’s capital on Thursday, reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to helping families uprooted by the state’s prolonged ethnic conflict. During the interaction, she assured the displaced that the government was working to rebuild their homes, secure livelihoods and support their children’s future as they navigate ongoing challenges.

According to officials, the President emphasised that the Union government remains focused on ensuring long-term stability, peace and prosperity in Manipur, which has witnessed large-scale displacement and over 260 deaths since ethnic violence broke out in May 2023.
