Though not all doctors agree with the term “super flu” , the NHS is certainly stretched right now as more cases reach hospital beds than is usual for this time of year.

Part of this is due to the mutated influenza H3N2 strain , for which many patients have lost immunity in recent years.

But speaking to HuffPost UK previously , Dr Suzanne Wylie, GP and medical adviser for IQdoctor , said that even “normal” flu can be “abrupt and systemically draining,” leaving sufferers feeling “wiped out”.
