WOODFIN - On a chilly mid-November day, incense smoke flowed through the former-Sourwood Inn, nestled just below Elk Mountain Scenic Highway. Peaceful music — a flute melody, overlayed with birds chirping — played as employees of the SoHum Mountain Healing Resort briskly walk between its spas, dining area and meditation rooms.

Through the resort's tall windows, downed trees from Tropical Storm Helene number in the hundreds to thousands. Sometimes when storms roll in over the mountains north of Asheville, it's a view "better than TV," AyurPrana co-founder Mitesh Raichada said. It's a view that is likely to change in coming years.
