NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WFSB) - Connecticut lawmakers have allocated $70 million in state money to protect low and middle-income families from rising healthcare costs.
The funding will shield more than 100,000 families covered through Access Health CT from huge increases expected when healthcare subsidies expire at the end of the year. Governor Ned Lamont and the legislature agreed to take the money from a contingency fund.
State leaders said the cash will serve as protection for families who would otherwise face skyrocketing insurance costs. However, the funding is only a temporary solution that will run out by the end of 2026.
