A Niagara high school student who played a role in the theft of an $80,000 truck in London, Ont., was admonished by a local judge Thursday.
“You could have killed somebody, including yourself, whoever else was in the truck, or some innocent people who were driving home minding their own business, not expecting to have a stolen truck driven by a kid without a licence crash into them,” Judge Cameron Watson told the youth in Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines.
“You drove from London to St. Catharines, which is a two-and-a-half-hour drive or thereabouts. It’s quite surprising that you didn’t get in a crash.”
The 18-year-old was 17 at the time of the crime and cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
