Card Factory has warned on its profits amid declining high street footfall and low consumer confidence.

The greeting card retailer said that challenging trading conditions have continued into the crucial Christmas period, resulting in UK store sales falling "lower than previous expectations".

The West Yorkshire company now anticipates delivering an adjusted pre-tax profit of between £55 million and £60 million for the year, unless trading shows significant improvement.

This marks a substantial drop from earlier projections of approximately £70 million profit.
