The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday approved an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for copra for the 2026 season.
According to the government, the MSP for Fair Average Quality milling copra has been fixed at ₹12,027 per quintal, while ball copra will be procured at ₹12,500 per quintal, in line with the government’s 2018-19 policy to set MSPs at least 1.5 times the all-India weighted average cost of production.
This marks a hike of ₹445 per quintal for milling copra and ₹400 per quintal for ball copra over last season. Since 2014, MSPs for the two categories have more than doubled—from ₹5,250 and ₹5,500 per quintal to the new rates of ₹12,027 and ₹12,500—registering growth of 129% and 127%, respectively.
