Here's everything you need to know about Reform's breakthrough win and what it means

Where did Reform win? Nigel Farage's party today won a by-election in the Whitburn and Blackburn ward on West Lothian Council.

Why does that matter? Reform has never won an election in Scotland before, so it's a real breakthrough moment for the right-wing populists.

So how does Reform have other elected politicians? The party's one MSP, Graham Simpson, defected from the Conservatives earlier this year. All of its other councillors are also defectors, mainly from the Tories.
