Two suspects — one of them already in custody at Montreal’s Bordeaux jail — have been arrested in connection with a series of extortion attempts and arson attacks in St-Lambert, Longueuil police said on Thursday.

Abdel Camara and Mohamad Jamil Allo, both aged 20, were arrested in connection with the crimes that targeted restaurants in the community on Montreal’s South Shore.

Police said the crime wave began last Aug. 28, when a 16-year-old entered the Café Limousine, the Cru Bar à huîtres and the Primi Piatti restaurant to deliver an envelope containing a bullet and extortion demands ranging from $5,000 to $7,500.
