Law enforcement officials in New York said they have broken up a major retail theft ring that preyed on Home Depot stores up and down the East Coast, including Delaware.

Officials said the numbers are staggering: the crew stole more than $2.2 million worth of tools and construction equipment in 319 separate incidents at 128 stores across nine states.

Thirteen people have been charged in a 780-count indictment for theft and fencing the stolen goods.

Prosecutors said sometimes the suspects took breaks for lunch or dinner and then hit the same store multiple times in one day.
