New Castle County officials recently held a ribbon cutting for a new electric vehicle charging station at Delcastle Park.
There are now eight new charging stations at Delcastle in the area of the softball quadraplex on four dual port posts.
That brings the county's charging port count up to 72 as part of a 100 EV Plugs plan.
"Delcastle is very high usage, obviously are libraries are high usage, Claymont Library is high usage, so in the future, we're doing a park expansion down in Middletown we'll have an EV station there eventually as well," said County Executive Marcus Henry.
EV drivers can access the chargers using a credit card or an app at a rate of 15 cents per kilowatt hour.
The Delcastle ports were paid for using funds from the 2021 federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
