Sault College’s board of governors is still to decide how a successor for retired president David Orazietti will be found.

Orazietti went on leave in July and retired in October. The former Sault Ste. Marie MPP worked at the college since 2017, including two years leading the post-secondary institution.

“ The board is looking at what we’re going to do for a presidential search,” chair Tom Katagis told The Sault Star following the open portion of a board of governors meeting on Thursday.

He expects to have an update on the presidential search in the first half of 2026.

Sherri Smith is interim president until Orazietti’s successor is hired. She was vice-president, academic, innovation and student services. That role is now being filled, on an interim basis, by Martha
