The Met Office has issued weather alerts spanning 48 hours, with torrential rain and flooding that could lead to power cuts in 10 areas of the UK.

The yellow rain warnings are in place for the East Midlands, North East England, North West England, and Yorkshire & Humberside, starting at 6pm tomorrow (Saturday) and ending at 6pm on Monday, reports Express.co.uk.

The updated warning says: "Outbreaks of rain will spread in from the west during Saturday evening, persist through Sunday before eventually clearing away during Monday afternoon and evening.
