ATWATER, Calif. (KFSN) -- The completion of a new North Valley football stadium means every school in the Merced Union High School District has a field to call its own.
District officials and coaches were on hand for a special ceremony Thursday at Buhach Colony's new on-campus stadium.
The project was four years in the making.
The stadium will seat more than 3,000 fans and will feature a state-of-the-art scoreboard, ticket booth and home-side concession stand.
First to take the field will be soccer, and athletes are ready to play their first true home game.
"I think all the sports have been really ready for this for a long time," says Sofia Alcorn. "Being a senior, I've definitely been ready for this for a long time, since freshman year. Everyone has been looking forward to it."
