With frigid temperatures on the way , Akron Mayor Shammas Malik announced that Summit Lake Community Center, 380 W. Crosier Street, will extend its hours Sunday, Dec. 14 and Monday, Dec. 15. for use as a warming center for residents in need.
The center will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. both days.
All other City of Akron community centers will be closed on Sunday and open during their normal business hours Monday.
The Emergency Overnight Shelter located at 111 East Voris St. will be open from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 12; Saturday, Dec. 13; Sunday, Dec. 14; and Monday, Dec. 15.
