MADISON (WKOW) — Henry Vilas Zoo has canceled its Zoo Lights show on December 13 and 14 due to dangerously cold weather.

Forecasts predict temperatures with wind chills as low as -30 degrees, posing risks of frostbite and affecting the lights.

“There is a lot of planning that goes into an event like Zoo Lights,” said Marketing Manager Kristin Moala. “The weather forecast creates a variety of problems for us logistically and our number one priority is to provide everyone with a safe and fun experience."

The Zoo will automatically refund all ticket holders.

Zoo Lights will resume on Dec. 17 and continue nightly through Dec. 23. Tickets are $12 per person, with free entry for children 3 and under. A 4-Pack of general admission tickets is available for $40 if purchased in advance.
