Aaron Rodgers referenced the “beautiful grass field” at M&T Bank Stadium as part of the reason for his nimble pocket movement and even his 2-yard touchdown scamper against the Baltimore Ravens.
Those were not the words he used a couple weeks earlier to describe the playing conditions at Acrisure Stadium, when he said the field was “borderline unplayable.”
The NFL wants to eliminate some of the griping about subpar playing surfaces by requiring every stadium to meet new standards set through lab and field testing by the start of the 2028 season.
The league will provide each team a “library of approved and accredited NFL fields” before the start of the 2027 season. Teams will have two years to meet the standards, whether they use grass, synthetic surface or hybrid.
