One day after four-star tight end Matt Ludwig was released from his letter of intent from the Michigan Wolverines, another 2026 class member is backing out of his signature.
Three-star offensive lineman Bear McWhorter announced on social media on Friday morning that he has withdrawn from his letter of intent at Michigan.
“In light of recent events, I’ve made the very difficult decision to withdraw my NLI,” McWhorter wrote. “I’m grateful to the staff at UM for everything they’ve done.”
McWhorter committed to Michigan back in February over his other finalist, the Alabama Crimson Tide. This was viewed as a huge win at the time, as the 6-foot-3.5, 293-pounder from White, Georgia was named after legendary Alabama head coach Bear Bryant.
