An East Donegal Township woman nearly shot her neighbor while hunting a doe on her property, according to police.

Karen Lynn Gaus, 42, is charged with reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct after Susquehanna Regional police say she fired a rifle in the direction of her neighbor’s property while hunting, according to charging documents.

Gaus is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 12, does not have a lawyer listed on her docket and could not be contacted on Thursday.

Police responded to the neighbor’s property on Nov. 29, where a woman said she was standing by a tree in her backyard when a bullet flew over her head, according to the affidavit. She dropped to the ground and later called the police.
