A Tewksbury woman was arrested Thursday after police say she stabbed a woman inside a Macy’s store in New York City in an unprovoked attack, according to WABC-TV New York .
Kerri Aherne, 43, was taken into custody around 3 p.m. Thursday and charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
According to WABC-TV New York , the victim was a 38-year-old woman who was changing her 10-month-old daughter inside a restroom at the Macy’s flagship store in Manhattan. Aherne reportedly approached from behind and attacked the woman.
NBC 4 New York reported the victim was stabbed in the back and suffered a cut on her arm. She was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. According to WABC-TV New York, the baby was not injured.
