GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - In Brown County Court on Friday, a man accused of a deadly highway shooting and crash was found competent to proceed with his trial.
Ji-Gwe-Mko Layton is charged with first-degree intentional homicide with a dangerous weapon.
Authorities say on August 15 in Ashwaubenon, Layton shot a driver on I-41. The victim was hit in the head, causing a fatal crash.
Layton allegedly told police he shot the victim, claiming the victim was, “acting like he was going to rob my safe while I was at work.”
The victim died from multiple gunshot wounds. A preliminary hearing is now set for December 18.
Layton’s $750,000 bond continues.
