A 64-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man were apparently stabbed to death inside a home on Herron Island, a community of about 150 people near the west side of the Key Peninsula, according to the Pierce County sheriff’s office.
Deputies found the man and woman around 4 p.m. Thursday when they were doing a welfare check at the home in the 700 block of East Herron Boulevard Northwest. Investigators believe they had been deceased over the last week, sheriff’s spokesperson Deputy Carly Cappetto said in a video.
Friday morning, the sheriff’s office said they arrested a 63-year-old man at a Kent motel who “was not compliant.” SWAT team members made their way into the man’s room and found him with a self-inflicted wound.
