LUMBERTON — Robeson County native Robert Whittington Jr. is creating clothing for musicians of all kinds at his new apparel company.
Whittington grew up surrounded by music, both at home and at his church, and began creating music at just 5 years old with a drum set.
“I turned over to bass guitar at 9,” Whittington said. “I had watched my Uncle Dan play for years, and then after that, I traveled the road listening, watching, sharing the stage with different artists.”
Music is like therapy for him, Whittington said. It’s a place for him to work through his emotions and express himself through the strings on his guitar.
“If you get frustrated or anything like that,” he said, “once you start playing your instrument, it takes all of the pain and frustration away.”
