After backing out of his letter of intent with the Michigan Wolverines on Thursday following the firing of head coach Sherrone Moore, 2026 four-star tight end Matt Ludwig quickly landed on his feet and has committed to Texas Tech.

This new commitment doesn’t come as a major surprise, as the Red Raiders were heavily involved in Ludwig’s recruitment the first time around.

The Montana native was a longtime commit of the Wolverines up until this week, having announced his pledge to Michigan back in May. The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder is the No. 12 tight end, No. 1 player from Montana and No. 242 overall prospect in the class, per 247Sports’ composite, and was viewed as one of the better players in the class for the Wolverines.
