SEATTLE — President Donald Trump has approved Washington state’s request for a federal emergency declaration as historic flooding continues to impact communities across western Washington , Gov. Bob Ferguson announced Friday.
Ferguson said he received a phone call from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirming the president had signed the declaration, calling the outreach timely and critical as emergency response efforts continue statewide.
“This is exactly the kind of call you want in a situation like this,” Ferguson said, adding that federal coordination will help the state navigate ongoing emergency work and the significant financial resources expected to be needed for recovery.
