BELLEVUE, Wash. — A Bellevue Police Department officer shot a suspect who reportedly "attacked" an officer at the Bellevue Transit Center on Friday afternoon, according to the King County Independent Force Investigation Team (IFIT).

Police said officers responded to a call about a disturbance at the transit center just after noon. Investigators said the suspect "attacked" the officers when they contacted him. During the altercation, one officer was seriously injured. Police then shot the suspect.

A 29-year-old male police officer is in satisfactory condition, according to Susan Gregg with UW Medicine Harborview. Gregg said the other injured man is in critical condition. His age was not provided.

The suspect remains in custody for assault, IFIT said.
