Police have identified the woman who was found shot to death inside her Maryland home, as detectives work to determine who killed her — and why.

The victim was identified as 45-year-old Adia Lipscomb Mingo, who was found unresponsive inside her residence in Temple Hills, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.

Officers were called to the 6900 block of Westchester Court at approximately 8:50 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, for a reported shooting, police said. 

When officers arrived, they found Mingo inside her home suffering from traumatic injuries.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

Homicide Unit detectives have taken over the investigation and are working to identify a suspect or suspects and establish a motive. 

Investigators say they do not believe the killing was random. Detectives are now attempting to identify a suspect and a possible motive.

The investigation remains active.
