Hamilton police say the HSR driver involved in a collision that killed a seven-year-old boy Thursday wasn’t at fault in the crash.

The boy was with who police described as his caregiver when he was struck by a bus carrying 10 to 15 people at Wilson and Emerald streets, just east of J.C. Beemer Park, around 1:10 p.m.

“Based on witness statements and video gathered at the scene, investigators do not believe that the actions of the bus driver or the child’s caregiver contributed to this tragic incident,” police said in a news release Friday.

Details of the crash remain scarce.

Police said the driver of the bus — which came to a full stop about a block away from the crash site — stayed at the scene and co-operated with investigators.
