AMES, Iowa — A new study from Iowa State University reveals slight increases in farm values, yet some farmers continue to face challenges.
The Iowa Farm Bureau points to several factors affecting farm values across different regions of the state. Farms with more livestock in eastern and western Iowa are experiencing stronger gains. In contrast, areas like central Iowa, which focus more on row crops, are facing difficulties.
"I would say any value changes that are within minus five and plus 5% should generally be seen as more stable plateauing land markets, rather than a big directional change in either direction," an expert said.
There are reasons to remain optimistic, but many are preparing to weather the current situation.
